Dave, man that 55 is bad to the bone. I plan on frequenting more of the tracks down in the Carolina's more this year and I have to look for you man. Ever get up north like to Budds Creek? When you come out of the hole, what rpm's are you turning? Slick 55 man!!!
Thanks Dave! Thats an Eagle kit from my friends S10! LOL Thats a killer 55 too dude! Looks like an old model kit I used to have when I was a kid in the 80's called 'Badman' except it was yellow! Z
Hey Dave, The old '55's are still my favorite too, and I'd rather eat worms than drive an automatic !!! I had a stick in mine back in the day but after puttin' the squeeze to it I couldn't pull the lever fast enough. I have a 400 in it now cause I build 'em and they hold up real good, I just foot pedal it and hit the first stage and she wheelies into drive sometimes, about 80-100 feet. lotsa fun, everybody loves a wheelie !!! P.S. 4.11 out back with 16x33" DOT MT's
Awesome videos. Just the sound of Riff Raff coming out of the water got the old adrenaline going. Thanks for sharing. You should join the UMTR and post them in our chat forum if you haven't already.
As for me, nothing fancy. I run a 2 bolt main 350 +30, hydraulic cam, Demon 850 Carb, 177 Weiand Blower, Jerico 4 Speed with an in-line shifter, CF DF Clutch, 9" rear with 4.56 gears. Best 1/4 mile time was at Thomson--11.42 @118 mph. At Norwalk during The Classic--in excellent air--it would've run 11.33, but we were only running 1/8 mile. Not too bad for a 3800 lb street legal cruiser, I don't think.
I love the blower/stick combo. There's not much more fun that that! I will be racing in two meets at Thompson with the UMTR and hope to race at the Gasser Reunion there, too. My 56 is considered C/GS, or so I am told. Was really disappointed the event got rained out last year. If you have more info on the other events, I might try to make those as well.
Not sure if you're still trying to sell Riff Raff or have decided to keep her, but I look forward to racing with you in the upcoming season at some Stick Shift event. If you had listed your car one year earlier, I'm sure it would've sold at the Buy It Now price within hours. There was talk on the UMTR chat forum (www.UMTRNorth.com) about what a nice piece she is.
I followed the auction on eBay and was surprised it didn't sell. If I had the money, Riff Raff would be racing in Ohio with the UMTR next year. Good luck to you, too, in 09. Take Care!
