Too bad about the Atco Meet & Greet! I was looking forward to that. I have an alternitive suggestion!
Vince & Jim. I could use your help on this!!!
I have spoken to the Manager, Roy of the Advance Auto Parts store here in Front Royal Va.
He's up for the idea of having our Meet & Greet there. Bring your Race cars and show them off
to the people here in Front Royal, My Home Town. I'll bring my grill I'm sure we could get s few more. We'll make burgers, dogs, chicken and ribs while we show off our stuff answer few questions and have a good time.
I've been talking to Roy since the beginning of the year about my car and all the new friends I've made here on 1320X!
He's truely interested in what we do as Group and is willing to open up his Store's parking lot for Us to show off and have fun! The lot there is big enough and could hold as many as 50 cars, it's ajoined by Quality Inn Hotel, so there's alot of room there to, any out of towners could get rooms and be close if you want to come on down!
Of Corse Roy is open to a car show, it will bring his store some good attention from the Communitee! I know that there is 1 for sure, if not 2 other racers that are 1320X Members that live here aswell as I do.
This could be good for us all as well!
But I need to show Roy and his District Managers that this is for real and not some loud of horse stuff, That we as a group are seriuose about what we do and doing this for fun. To show them that it's a safe and clean sport for anyone. To show the Locals how to become more involved and to help get their kids off the street and out to the tracks where it's safe. There has been alot young people killed on the roads here in Front Royal, mostly cause they don't know any better. This would be a good oppertunity to make a differnce!
Not to mention the fact, I'm also trying to work a deal with Roy to get alittle sponcer help from Advance Auto Parts for next season to race full time. My plans for next year are to hit all the 1320X Shows I can, some National & Reginal events, and of corse run point racing at MIR along with Colonial Beach.
I'm just getting started back into Racing after being away for 15 years. I had a good run back in the mid 80's thru to the early 90's making it to 4 World Bracket Finals, 1st NHRA from Colonial Beach at Maple Grove with Royce Miller before he sold the Track to the Clarke Family and 3 IHRA Bracket Finals at Bristol again with Colonial Beach w/ Richard Clarke running the track. With the help of B&D Plumbing, Auto Spot and Wayne Rodgers Automitive!
So if you all agree and would like to make the 1320X Meet & Greet down here in Va, We have time to make plans and arrangements with the locals. Maybe bring in some town folks to judge our cars and hand out some trophies!
Any help getting this going would be greatly Appreciated! I have a Neice that's involved with the Towns Police Dept. She volunteers her time to alot of Town Fuctions, so I'm pretty sure I can get help from her with the Town if there's permits or anything like that we need to do this!
