1320X LAUNCHES JULY 4TH

Story by: John DiBartolomeo

It’s billed as a celebration of a lifestyle-community of racers who love the sport of grassroots drag racing, fast cars and great music. But it’s much more than that.

From the producers of PINKS comes a series of regional drag racing events held around the country to combine the racing with a festival atmosphere, a manufacturer’s midway and a car show, all merged to provide filming content for the www.1320x.com web portal. Spectators will also play a major role in the series, as voting will take place to award their favorite cars with prizes and the chance to compete in a “shootout” at the end of the day.

Four distinct classes will be represented, Open Comp, Grudge, Outlaw Drag Radial and Outlaw 10.5. In Open Comp qualifying sessions, spectators will vote their best vehicles. The top four cars from each brand; Ford, Chevy, Buick/Old/Pontiac and Mopar; will be selected to compete in a bracket-style tournament, with one winner standing at the end receiving the coveted Manufacturer’s Cup trophy.

The Grudge category will involve a person applying online to race each other, after which the 1320X staff will select ten matches to be filmed and placed on the 1320x.com’s video portal.

The Outlaw Drag Radial and Outlaw 10.5 classes are some of the fastest and most revered classes in drag racing today. Most will use a number of different power-adders to increase horsepower, making some of these vehicles capable of six and seven second elapsed times.

The first two events will be held simultaneously at Milan Dragway in Michigan and the Texas Motorplex in Texas on July 4th. Both will coincide with the typical 4th of July festivities, adding its own celebration of American muscle cars.
