I am building a 454 small block. i was going to sell only my short block, but if someone wants 396 sbf. It ran 10:29 1/4 on motor. It makes 650 hp on motor. We are asking 7,000 for it. Victor Jr heads/Super Victor intake 850 carb. I shift it @ 6800. W/ the 390 gears went 10:61 put 487 gears and went 10:29.

My plans are a new converter and possibly a Speedtech Nitrous plate. But with that I will have to add more bars to the cage to be legal so we will see how much I get done.

That block is a beast but it was more than I needed at my current HP level. I got it at a swap meet for $1000 brand new in the box so I couldn't pass it up. I was wanting the dart sportsman block to save a little frontend weight. But overall I am very happy with it and should be able to grow into it more espeacially when I get a new nitrous plate to fit my 4500 intake or go fogger.

Hey Bam, how is that Man O War block holding up? I was considering one of those for mine, but went something different.

I run CHI aluminum cleveland heads with a 2.15 int 1.65exh valve they are the 218cc version that I had CNC'd 232cc and flow 258cfm at .750 lift. and a CHI dominator intake also. I don't think you are going to have enough head even cnc'd for that many cubes. But it also depends on what you want out of the combination my motor will make good power up to about 6800 rpm and I go through the lights at 7000 rpm a 454ci motor with victor Jrs will more than likely only make power up to about 6000rpm and then the heads will begin to be to small for the cubic inches of course this is just a guesstimate but I would think you could get about high 500hp to low 600hp out of them on a 454ci motor but it will take a custom cam and alot of work to the heads. We are making in the 700hp to 750hp range with our motor if you take into account the weight of our car and what it runs but I haven't had it on a dyno see what it makes but our car does weigh 3870lbs and has run 10.16 @ 135 with a converter that is to tight. I hope to save up some money this offseason to get a custom converter and get rid of the street converter I am running now. We pick up between 27 and 28mph after the 1/8 mile and that kind of mph in the back half is what a mid to high 9 sec cars run. So we are hoping with the right gear and converter we can get 9.80's out of ours. Go to sbftech.com and search for "My new build" and my whole engine build will be there this is a great site for SBF tech info also very knowledgable people there.
