We tried that around here in the Carolinas. The cops and politicians were all for it, "100%", until we got it together. Then, they had a memory lapse.
If ALL of the adults involved can stay on that fine line of remembering what it was like to be kids and being 'responsible', I think the kids will stay interested.
I know that when I was a kid, too many rules took the fun out of anything.

Our deal was called 'Do Dreams Not Drugs'. We would get together in my shop a couple nights a week and work on our 'Do Dreams Not Drugs' '65 Chevelle foot-brake build. On weekends, the kids (six) would come to the track and help the four of us in the pits and we'd show'em the ropes of drag racing. We even made a deal with the track for their gate. The only rule was the kids had to have passing grades in ALL subjects and a good attendance record at school.
It was a great thing that was happening. Kids that were flunking out of school were now passing!
Then, a few sorry parents got together and were heard saying that they hoped their kid got hurt so they could sue us.
Sorryness put an end to a wonderful thing.

That's why the the schools and the politicians ran and hid.....LIABILITY!

Thanks for the invite!

I couldn't agree with you more on this one. My son will be driving in a couple of years which is why we spend so much time at the track. I show him where it safe to drive like a bat out of hell!

Thanks for the Invite. I agree getting kids off the street and onto the track is important. I'm 52 now and may have an older point of view but I was well aware of that when I was 16 deciding who was going to get the suicide lane on Parkside Boulevard. The problem I have here is that there is no track in CT. The public needs to wakeup they can either put up with noise on weekends or live wondering if there son or daughter is in some car late at night doing something not to intelligent.

I remember the first time I brought a friend of mine to Westhampton NY. He went down the track once came back and said "that was unbelievable, he told me he was totally relaxed leg wasn't shaking as it usually is on the street, no concern of cops, people throwing pick nick tables at the cars, etc. For once he could totally focus on driving.

I'm willing to do what I can to get a track back in CT. If anyone knows how to go about organizing this or has any ideas please let me know.
